"Splish Splash"

The photo reference for this really made me smile! The horse is having such a grand time splashing in the water! He is done in pastel, on Uart Sanded Pastel paper This is one of my personal favorites to date, and I have only been working in pastel for about 2 years. The water was the toughest part-trying to get it "real" looking. But then, each painting I do has its own set of challenges, and I always try to make myself get out of my personal comfort zone and try new techniques, mediums etc. I used mostly pastel pencils, but also some pan pastels, and soft/medium stick pastels like the Faber Castells and Rembrandts.
