Mukluks
From the Maryhill Museum, a pair of Alaskan child's mukluks in bear fur and leather. Done in soft pastel and pastel pencil. The soft pastels were perfect at painting the texture of fur for these boots. I first did a detailed pastel pencil drawing in dark blue. Pastelmat is my favorite paper for how it holds details and lends itself to soft blending. What attracted me to these boots were the details of the furs and the leather laces--I could see the design potential.
