Pensive
This portrait of my son was painted with various pastel brands on black UArt 400. The reference photo was taken at the beginning of Covid lockdown, and there was a pensive, uncertain expression on my son's face, he was only 13 at the time. I used black paper and darker pastels to contrast the lit portions of his face as if he was emerging from the darkness.
