3 cat limit
The subject of this painting is three of our cats. Something very interesting drew them all to the window where they piled on their tower to get a better view. It was fun to watch as cats were added to the perch and the support tilted towards the window under the additional weight. I think one more may have been a disaster!
Starting with a line drawing, I quickly identified my lights and darks and built up the painting in layers beginning with Unisons, blending with pencils, then returning to softer pastels. I try to have previous layers peek through the next layer. I've found some really wonderful colors that can be achieved when doing this. At least it works for me. Finish by going over the whole painting and refining my edges. Where I want them defined, where I want them softer, where a lost edge may work. And work my colors in across the whole painting.
