I painted this scene from a photo I took while hiking in Arizona's White Mountains in early fall. Just a few Aspen trees had started to turn golden. The contrast of this little aspen's bright yellow leaves with the green of the pine trees and other still green aspens cried out to be painted.
This was the first time I had used a black paper.
